What It Means to Be Human
At the heart of my work lies a deep exploration off what it means to be human: our vulnerabilities, strengths, and the unyielding desire to connect with one another and the world around us.

From Powerlessness to Empowerment

The news often reminds me of war, oppression, and environmental destruction, leaving me overwhelmed. My works like Kotskop and Cruelearthure channel these emotions of despair. Pieces such as Mensgranaat and Crossflyer take it a step further, showing how powerlessness can be reclaimed as strength, by become a bomb oneself.

Connection and Love: The Root of Strength

No matter how turbulent the world becomes, love remains a powerful force. As a mother, my work often explores this deep connection. Sculptures like MADREAEON and The Perpetuum are a metaphore for the bond between people and our relationship with nature. These works are both personal and universal.
Vulnerability as Strength
In recent years, my art has delved into the strength found in vulnerability. Sculptures like Plantvrouw and She Entered a State of Fluidity embody resilience in surrender, encouraging viewers to embrace openness as a source of power.

Artistic Journey

I live and work in Leiden, the Netherlands. In 1995, I completed my studies in monumental textile at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, followed by a specialization in glass design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, where I graduated in 1998. My work encompasses both autonomous sculptures and commissioned pieces for public spaces.
One of my public works, Molecular, stands on the Burggravenlaan in Leiden, reflecting my fascination with the interconnectedness of all things. My sculptures are included in private and museum collections, bridging intimate and institutional spaces.
Studio and Vision
My studio, located in the Kunstcentrum Haagweg 4 in Leiden, is where these ideas take form. It’s a space filled with fragments of stories, emotions, and forms waiting to find their place in new exhibitions or collections.
Through my art, I aim to evoke emotions, spark dialogue, and invite viewers to see the world—and themselves—with fresh eyes. My sculptures are an invitation to embrace the complexity of being human, to connect with others, and to find strength in vulnerability.
I welcome studio visits and look forward to sharing these stories with you in person.
